The Geiger Counter is a hand item which allows players to find radioactive items. When the player has found a radioactive item, the player will get the Irridated mod and the Geiger Counter will turn into a Dead Geiger Counter which needs to be recharged (automatically recharges in approximately half an hour, only if it is equipped).
The Geiger Counter is an unsplicable hand item which was added on December 12, 2014.

How It Works
When equipped, the item will emit one of three different colored rings, or no rings around the player:

*No rings - the player is very far from the source of radioactivity
*Red ring - the player is 15-30 blocks away from the source of radioactivity
*Yellow rings - the player is 10-15 blocks away from the source of radioactivity
*Green rings - the player is 6-10 blocks away from the source of radioactivity
*Rapid Green rings - the player is 0-6 blocks away from the source of radioactivity

These rings are used to tell the player how far they are from the radioactivity (e.g. red means that they are far and should move towards a green area).

NOTE: During Night Of The Comet (or in a world with Weather Machine - Comet), all Geiger Counters will emit green rings because the comet is messing up the Geiger Counter's reading. If players manage to find a radioactive item, they will receive the "Atomic Luck" achievement.

Once the player stands on the source of radioactivity, the item they have found will automatically go into their backpack. The player will receive the Irradiated mod for half an hour and their Geiger Counter will turn into a Dead Geiger Counter. The Dead Geiger Counter must be equipped in the player's hand and will take approximately half an hour to recharge, as long as the player does not unequip it. Being in the EXIT menu does not recharge the Geiger Counter.
The item may emit one of these types of signal rings which tell how far the player is from the source of radioactive point in the world:
*No rings - Very far.
*Red rings - 15-30 blocks away from the source.
*Yellow rings - 7,5-15 blocks away from the source.
*Green rings - 4-7,5 blocks away from the source.
*Rapid green rings - 0-4 blocks away from the source.

NOTE: The Geiger Counter can only be used in regular worlds of size 60x100. It cannot be used in worlds which have been modified in size.
Once the player stands for a few moments on the source of radioactivity, the item they found will be added into their inventory. If the player's inventory is full, the item will be dropped on the tile they are standing. The player will then receive the Irradiated mod for 30 minutes (15 minutes on Geiger Day) and their Geiger Counter will turn into a Dead Geiger Counter.

Effects
Trivia
* When a Dead Geiger Counter is held, players will have the "Charging Geiger Counter" mod. 1% takes 20 seconds to charge, meaning that it requires 31 minutes and 20 seconds to fully charge a Dead Geiger Counter. During Geiger Day, charging takes half the time.
*When the item was originally released, players could only get Radioactive Chemicals and Nuclear Fuels from using a Geiger Counter. Since the Crystals update, crystals became possible rewards, along with other items.
* When a player has found a radioactive item, the player will receive the "Irradiated" mod. This means that the player cannot find more radioactive items for the next thirty minutes. During Geiger Day, the mod lasts for fifteen minutes only.
*As of Cinco De Mayo Week 2017, a Geiger Counter can only be used in regular worlds of size 100 x 60 (54 excluding bedrock). Therefore, it cannot be used in worlds that have been modified in size.
*During a Night Of The Comet (or in a world with an active Weather Machine - Comet), all Geiger Counters will emit green rings only since the comet messes up with their reading due to cosmic radiation. If a player still manages to find a radioactive item in spite of these hindrances, they will receive the Atomic Luck achievement.
*Using a Geiger Counter during a Geiger Day, there is a chance that H.R. Geiger Supervillain will be summoned.
*Geiger Charger is a block that could be used to charge a Dead Geiger Counter by clicking on the Dead Geiger Counter in your backpack and clicking on the placed empty Geiger Charger block afterwards. Using a Geiger Charger takes twice the time to charge compared to equipping the item on your hand.
*Some normal rewards might not be obtainable during some special events.
*Only one source are generated at a time. Two or more player holding Geiger counter at the same time will receive signal from the same source.
*Consuming a Hot Chocolate removes the "Irritated" mod as well as recharges your Geiger Counter immediately.
*Using the Geiger Counter in GEIGERHILLS will limit the rewards and you will only be able to get Uranium Block, additionally you won't get the "Irritated" mod.

Trivia
* During Cinco De Mayo Week 2017, a change was made so that that worlds with an irregular size (eg. TINY) would not have any sources of radioactivity, rendering them useless for geiger hunting.
* When the item was originally released alongside the Superhero Pack, players could only get Radioactive Chemicals. During the Crystals update, crystals became possible drops, along with other items.
* Players can use Hot Chocolate on themselves to remove the Irradiated effect and charge the Geiger.
* Geiger Chargers take twice as long to charge as charging while holding the Geiger Counter. However, they do not need to be equipped and can be placed inside the charger.
* Chance of getting a crystal is around ten percent.

"With this fantabulous device, you can detect radiation around you. It bleeps red, then yellow, then green as you get closer to the source. Who knows what you might find? Not available any other way!"
Every purchase will give 1 item.

The Geiger Counter is an unsplicable hand item which was added on December 12, 2014.

Function

   You are detecting radiation...
   Geiger Counter removed.

When equipped, the Geiger Counter grants the Geiger Counting mod, which allows the player to locate radioactive items.

The item may emit one of these types of signal rings which tell how far the player is from the source of radioactive point in the world:

 • No rings - Very far.
 • Red rings - 15-30 blocks away from the source.
 • Yellow rings - 7,5-15 blocks away from the source.
 • Green rings - 4-7,5 blocks away from the source.
 • Rapid green rings - 0-4 blocks away from the source.

The list of all possible rewards can be seen below.
