The Surgical Kit was released on November 21, 2013 as part of the Growtopia General Hospital update.

The January 2017 monthly update changed the Surgical Kit price from 8,000 to 12,000 Gems. The update also reduced the amount of tools received from 10 to 5 and added 6 new tools : Surgical Lab Kit, Surgical Defibrillator, Surgical Pins, Surgical Clamp, Surgical Transfusion and Surgical Ultrasound.

On June 13, 2019, during the Blocktor's Orders! update, x10 Med-A-Check and a Train-E were added to the pack.

On February 13, 2020, on Valentine’s Week 2020, a new tool called the Surgical Love Mallet was added to the Surgical Kit but is only obtainable by purchasing the pack during Valentine's Week.
