Dirt is one of the four basic blocks with a rarity of 1 (along with Rock, Cave Background, and Lava). It's a seed where all other blocks are essentially spliced from, making it an important element in Growtopia. This Item cannot be spliced. It can be found in newly created worlds, except from Blasted Worlds. Placing two dirt blocks next to each other will cause them to join, creating a continuous pattern. When you recycle it you can get from 0 to 1 gem each. During the winter season, grass changes it's color from green to white, showing that snow had covered the grass on top of the dirt.

Trivia
- This block is normally the very first block new players will mine, due to it's commonness as well as it can be found in any new world, without the use of a blast.
- As a tribute to dirt, the Muddy Pants were created (By Hamumu as no-one else had the guts), spawning a pet dirt. This item can be bought for 125 Growtokens in the store.
- The Sand Block, Martian Soil Block and the Deep Sand Blocks are just re-coloured versions of dirt.
- Breaking Dirt and Harvesting Dirt Trees have a small chance to drop a Wiggly Worm.
