The rat is the first of the zodiac animals. According to myth, the Jade Emperor stated the order of the zodiac would be decided by a race. The rat was clever and tricked the Ox into giving him a ride, then, at the finish line the rat jumped down and landed in front, becoming first. Limited only to Year of the Rat!
