id:Audio Gear

The Audio Gear is a splicable solid foreground block which was added as part of Cinco De Mayo Week 2017.

Function

When placed, an Audio Gear allows the player to play up to five notes simultaneously. Notes can be added by entering a series of music notes into a text box after interacting with the block using a Wrench. Each "music note" entered into the Audio Rack must consist of three parts: the instrument, the note, and the accidental, entered in that exact order.

Instrument

A list of playable instruments is shown below, along with each letter that represents the instruments.

Code
Instrument
B Bass
D Drums
F Flute
G Guitar
L Lyre
P Piano
S Sax
V Violin

Note

The code for the note may be any letter from A through G, with lowercase signifying the lower octave and uppercase signifying the higher octave.

Accidental

Letter notes are modified by accidentals, such as the sharp (♯), flat (♭), and natural (♮) signs. The sharp sign ♯ raises a note by a semitone or half-step, while a flat ♭ lowers it by the same amount.

Code

b Flat

Comparison to Sheet Music

An Audio Gear can be utilized in order to play notes which cannot be played by sheet music blocks, such as overlapping notes or notes blocked by Bedrocks. However, do note that the Audio Gear can only play piano, drum, bass, sax, flute, spanish guitar, lyre and violin notes and sheets such as Sheet Music: Spooky and Sheet Music: Winterfest cannot be played.

The volume of an Audio Gear can also be adjusted; however, the sound produced may only be softened, seeing that the maximum volume allowed is 100, the same as a regular sheet music. The player can reduce the volume by changing the value inside the volume text box to less than 100.

Just like blocks such as Dirt and Sand, an Audio Gear has a collision box that players cannot move through. On the other hand, an Audio Rack can be passed through, similar to blocks such as Grass and Daisy.
