Dirt is a splicable basic block that is created through splicing a Lava Seed with a Wooden Block Seed.

Trivia

Dirts are almost surely the most difficult and unaccessible block to even the best of players.
Placing two Dirts next to each other will cause them to turn into a random moderator item, but it is extremely hard to get two dirts.
During WinterFest, Dirt turns snowy and white.
Sand, Martian Soil, and Deep Sand look very similar to Dirt, but are way less hard to get.
Breaking Dirt and harvesting Dirt Trees have a small chance to drop a Wiggly Worm which does not have a use yet, but is estimated to be around 500-650 Diamond Locks.
Dirts can only be found in worlds that have been around for at least six years, or from the now inaccesable Dirt Blast.
A Digger's Spade will allow the player to break Dirt and Cave Background in one hit, but why would someone want to break Dirt? After all, its nearly impossible to get!
