Farming is one of the harder techniques, since it is so boring, yet it works. I'd reccomend either farming, OR waiting till certain events that will give profit. For instance, since the Winterfest update is coming up, I reccomend saving up a bunch of Minor otherworldly baits, as they can give tree decorations when fishing. I would also reccomend saving up farmables, or massing them, since the Present Goblin Home Edition will be available to players once again, and you could sell it to desperate buyers.
This is only how I have made profit during certain events, But i hope it will work for ypu, or I hope that you will find a better way.
