The Fist is an item essential to playing the game. It allows the player to break blocks and harvest fully-grown trees At the same time,it can punch other people. It also serves as a way to interact with the world, with many interactive tiles which activate or toggle when a player punches them. Its mechanical counterpart is the Wrench.
Different properties of the Fist such as its reach, strength, and appearance, can be modified with certain equipment items which add mods. The Pickaxe, Just One Boxing Glove, Elvish Longbow, Cyclopean Visor,Tommygun and Heartbow, among other options, all have different effects on the Fist.

Additional info
Trying to recycle or offer the Fist in trade displays the message, "You'd be sorry if you lost that!" The prompt when trying to drop the Fist simply reads, "You can't drop that."

- The sound effect used while punching is from Dink Smallwood that also uses it for punching as well
