It might or might not be a scam (you wouldn't lose your stuff though) -- the player really wants to buy it, or he/she just attracts you to the world (might be a shop world, parkour world, or even a SCAM WORLD!) to do whatever he/she wants you to do and farms Growtokens (for scam worlds is to obviously scam you).
