In the Growtopia Wiki, there are many various user roles. Each one of them has different rights and abilities.

In order to properly manage the wiki, an administration is required. Therefore, there is a group of users who constantly moderate the wiki and keep it safe from those with bad faith.

What is a user right?

A user right is a special type of permissions which allows a user to perform a certain task for the wiki. A "user rights group" is a set of permissions or abilities. A list of user rights by groups can be seen at Special:ListGroupRights.

User Roles

Everyone visiting Fandom can view and read pages. The Growtopia Wiki, however, requires users to log into a Fandom account in order to make edits to the wiki.

Bureaucrats

Bureaucrats are one level 'up' from administrators. Bureaucrats only have the ability to manipulate user rights, as well as block and unblock users, so this right is generally used in addition to the administrator group.

Although bureaucrats cannot directly revoke another user's bureaucrat status, they can revoke their own.

Bureaucrats have the ability to:

  • Grant and revoke rollback, Content Moderator and administrator rights,
  • Appoint new bureaucrats,
  • Revoke their own bureaucrat status, and
  • Revoke a user's bot status in case the bot is malfunctioning.

Administrators

Administrators (also known as "admins" or "sysops") are trusted users, who are generally chosen based on their contributions, behaviour, and conduct.

Administrators have all the privileges that a Content Moderator possesses.

Administrators have the ability to:

  • Block users who are vandalising the wiki from performing certain actions,
  • Grant and revoke the Chat Moderator and Discussions Moderator rights,
  • Edit the wiki's skin, format, and interface, and
  • Edit whitelisted MediaWiki pages.

Content Moderators

Content Moderators are users who have additional tools available to moderate specific parts of the community.

Content Moderators have the ability to:

  • Delete and move protected pages,
  • Delete and move files,
  • Restore deleted pages and files,
  • Rollback,
  • Reupload files, and
  • Protect and unprotect pages.

Discussions Moderators

Discussions Moderators are users who have additional tools available to manage conversations in various features across the community where users are having social discussions.

Discussions Moderators have the ability to:

  • Remove and restore threads and replies from any user,
  • Close and reopen threads,
  • Manage Forum boards,
  • Move Forum threads from one board to another,
  • Highlight and un-highlight Forum threads,

  • Moderate the Discussions feature.

Chat Moderators

Chat Moderators have the ability to:

  • Block users from the chat, which will kick a user out of the chat, and
  • Ban them from returning until a Chat Moderator or an administrator unbans them, or if the ban expires.

Rollbacks

Anyone can revert vandalism and bad-faith edits, but it takes a couple of clicks in the page history to get it done.

Rollbacks have the ability to:

  • Revert edits with one click, by using the rollback link on diff pages, user contributions list, or the list of recent changes.
