Gems are the currency in the Growtopia store; A yellow gem counts as 1 gem, a blue gem counts as 5 gems, a red gem counts as 10 gems, a green gem counts as 50 gems, and a purple gem counts as 100 gems.

Gems are obtained randomly by breaking blocks or trees, and can also be obtained by buying them or using Tapjoy.

Many people farm items for gems; Such as Sugar Cane, Venus Guytraps, Pinball Bumpers, and many more.
