The Rock is the least common of the four basic tiles. It can be found anywhere under the starting floor, buried in dirt.(Farmable)

Although this is a Rarity 1 block, it is mostly used for splicing rarer objects.

Sometimes when you break the rock, there is very low chance that it will drop out rock seed.

When you dig it out, it drops seed and you can sell it for 1 per 100 world locks so collect a lot in case you need world locks in the future.
