Welcome to the Growtopia Wiki sandbox!
This page exists so that you can practice editing or formatting (see Help:Editing) without changing any serious content. Feel free to try wiki editing out here first.
There is a tutorial on the Central (coordinating) Wikia that will step you through more of the things you can do. Wiki allow for rather complicated formatting. It can look overwhelming when you begin, but don't let it worry you. Just start with the basics... enter some text, and learn the other pieces as you go. Your content contributions are welcome and important. The wiki is a collaborative effort and others can help with formatting and other improvements. Any template used here are not to be taken, such as delete.

Mod Overhaul thingy

Overview

Developers formerly used a moderator application system to recruit new moderators. Some moderators could request special events, such as KYDERBY. Moderators and Developers have the ability to break blocks in worlds they normally would not have access to. Developers display a ? symbol instead of a level number, while moderators display their actual level. @Seth and @Hamumu are the only developers with unique flags. Seth has the RTsoft flag, and Hamumu has the Yerfdog flag.

Former Moderators and Community Channels

bungbi – YouTube channel: Wobbly BungBi
Zerkon – YouTube channel: Zerkon Games
STYX (also known as Zohros) – formerly ran the Discord server STYXSQUAD
- STYX has served as moderator three separate times: twice as STYX and once as Zohros. He has since disappeared from the community.
ShadowSURFER – YouTube channel: ShadowSurfer
Jens – Twitch and YouTube under the name JensBeard
Jenuine and Anulot – co-owned the Twitch channel Jenulot and stepped down from their moderator positions together

Retirements, Bans, and Returns

useruser3 – first moderator to retire, citing personal reasons.
AV8R – temporarily banned after his account was hacked; although restored later, he lost moderator status.
PixelMorph(also known as Morpheus) – permanently banned for stealing items from a banned players’ worlds as a way of quitting the game. Stating their reason being an addiction.
JustNothing – permanently suspended after allowing his cousin to operate the account, leading to abuse of power
AtkinsSJ – after announcing his retirement, he was hacked and temporarily banned to minimize damage
Shadowsurfer, STYX, and useruser3 are the only moderators known to have returned after retiring, with STYX returning twice (the second time as Zohros)

Historical Events and Milestones

ExeCutie was Growtopia’s first Community Manager and left after getting married.
On December 11, 2017, a security exploit compromised developer accounts (@Seth and @Hamumu), distributing valuable items unfairly and corrupting world data.
- The Growtopia Team rolled back servers to December 10, 2017 to restore the game’s balance.
JustNothing was the first moderator to obtain the Legendary title.
Messaging a moderator displays the following warning:

On October 7, 2019, Baskerville posted the Meet the Team forum thread featuring staff introductions and social links.

Guardian System and Promotions

As of November 14, 2019, the Guardian role became the required entry point before becoming a Moderator.
Fournos and Kailyx were the first Guardians promoted to Moderator.
Fournos was also the first Moderator to earn the Dr. title.
On December 2, 2022, CoconutShrimp became the first Guardian to earn the Dr. title.
On November 24, 2023, the Trainee Moderator role was introduced to provide Guardians a fair pathway to full Moderator status.
