A Spotlight can be used to grant the In the Spotlight mod on anyone in the world, which focuses a circle of light on the targeted player regardless of their distance to the Spotlight. The mod can be removed anytime by a player with access to the block or leaving the world.

Trivia

The circles of light created by Spotlights will get brighter when lumped together. Players can even "disappear" with enough of them.
